I’ve talked before about how seriously we take our summers here in Minnesota. With all the hustle and bustle of work, the house and life, I’ve been trying to take time to enjoy the few beautiful outdoor evenings we have left. Another grand tradition here in Minneapolis, is the Walker Art Center’s Summer Music & Movies series, featuring an outdoor stage with local musician/band followed by a movie at dusk. The movies are inspired by the current collection or event at the Walker; this year’s selection features movies inspired by artists featured in the International Pop exhibit currently on display.
I was asked by Caribou Coffee, to develop a comfortable and stylish seating area for the event. Caribou Coffee was an additional sponsor for the initial event, and were helping the event goers stay cool and caffeinated with their new Caribou Coffee Crafted Press.
For the event, I was thinking of a Moroccan-vibe, tons of rugs and throw pillows. Perfect for lounging with friends on what turned out to be, a hot summer night. This is what it looked like just as the crowd was getting seated:
After setting up the seating area, I was able to relax with some friends, sip my Crafted Press and watch Barbarella. Here are some photos from the event!
There are two more chances to check out the Walker’s Summer Music & Movies this summer. Next Monday (8/10) & August 17th. It’s free to the public and music starts at 7pm. Be sure to get there early to get a good spot.
